Adaptive behaviour under conflict: Deconstructing extinction, reversal, and active avoidance learning

چکیده
• Changing associations between events in the environment cause behavioural conflict. The prefrontal cortex and amygdala contribute to adaptive behaviour during Conflict exists popular extinction, reversal learning active avoidance tasks. Deconstructing neural control reveals common features of In complex environments, organisms must respond adaptively situations despite conflicting information. Under natural (i.e. non-laboratory) circumstances, it is rare that cues or responses are consistently paired with a single outcome. Inconsistent pairings more common, as where associated multiple outcomes. Such inconsistency creates conflict, response one scenario may not be another. Learning adjust accordingly important for species survive prosper. Here we review brain mechanisms responding under conflict by focusing on three procedures: learning, avoidance. Extinction involves adapting from reinforcement non-reinforcement, swapping responses, performing avoid an aversive outcome, which other defensive strategies. We note each these phenomena relies somewhat overlapping circuits, suggesting such circuits critical general ability appropriately

متن کاملPlanning Models for Two-Way Avoidance and Reversal Learning ?
Reinforcement learning models can explain various aspects of two-way avoidance learning but do not provide a rationale for the relationship found between the dynamics of initial learning and those of reversal learning. Artificial Intelligence planning offers a novel way to conceptualize the learners’ cognitive processes by providing an explicit representation of and reasoning about internal pro...

This paper considers the problem of intersecting aircraft ows under decentralized con ict avoidance rules. Using an Eulerian standpoint (aircraft ow through a xed control volume), new air tra c control models and scenarios are de ned that enable the study of long-term airspace stability problems. Considering a class of two intersecting aircraft ows, it is shown that airspace stability, de ned b...
متن کاملActive vision and adaptive learning
Active vision is identified by a closed loop linking sensing with acting. Thus, an active vision system's behaviour is directly determined by what it senses. To date however, the responses produced by active vision systems have tended to be relatively low-level, generally designed to facilitate improved sensing, by enhancing the duration or speed of object tracking, for example, or optimising t...
متن کاملTrap Avoidance in Local Search Using Pseudo-Conflict Learning
A key challenge in developing efficient local search solvers is to effectively minimise search stagnation (i.e. avoiding traps or local minima). A majority of the state-of-the-art local search solvers perform random and/or Novelty-based walks to overcome search stagnation. Although such strategies are effective in diversifying a search from its current local minimum, they do not actively preven...
